Yup Dduk LA - a Koreatown classic. The best spot for some tteokbokki.

I opted for the lowest spice level to test the waters. Turns out, even the mild spice level packs a punch! So, if you're not a heat warrior, maybe consider another place.

Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the mozzarella cheese. Major recommendation! It's like the perfect sidekick to the heat. The gooey, melty goodness cools things down just enough to keep you coming back for more of that delicious heat.

The location is a bit on the small side, so be ready for a wait, especially during peak hours. But trust me, it's worth it. The cozy ambiance and the sizzle of the hot plates make it a unique dining experience.

The staff was on point - friendly and efficient despite the bustling crowd. They know their stuff and are more than happy to guide you through the menu if you're a newbie.

In a city filled with Korean spots, Yup Dduk LA stands out for its bold flavors and commitment to spice.

Living in LA for the past 4 months, I've been itching to explore the plethora of different kinds of food offered and what better place to start than K-Town. My friends and I took the metro and ended up at yyupduk. This was recommended to my friends who tried it the past weekend and they just had to come back the next! There was an hour wait but we were dying to have some good food, and we knew it was worth the while. The staff was extremely welcoming when seating us and attentive on ordering and bringing out drinks. We ordered the yyupduk with mild spiciness and banana milks to go around. The food came in a reasonable time and it was definitely picture worthy! The mild was spicy but just enough to get your nose running! The rice cakes were chewy, the sauce was spicy, the cheese was melty and everything was just perfect! You have the option to add on additional toppings which I wish we did. The price was extremely affordable, as this is a group meal. We shared it with 5 people and left stuffed! I'll definitely be going back to try the more they have to offer such as army stew, chicken stew and bulgogi. This is a must visit in K-Town for some delicious. rice cakes and good vibes!!

Ever since we came back to LA, everyone has talked about this restaurant. So we stopped by the location in KTown on 6th Street to give it a try!

First of all, my partner and I are not big spice fans, and we had heard that this place offers pretty spicy food in general. With that being said, we got the extra mild B set, with mozzarella cheese added. Despite being extra mild, it was still fairly spicy but again, take that with a grain of salt since we are both non-spicy eaters. The flavor, however, is so good, and I'm glad we got the cheese because it helped with the spice, but also added additional flavor to the dish. We also really enjoyed the rice ball addition as part of the set. There's something about rice, seaweed, and a spicy stew/sauce that just makes sense and tastes so good. In a way, the rice also helped with the spiciness too.

The restaurant is located in a small plaza with a few parking spots. I'm not certain, but I believe this lot is managed by a 3rd party valet service on some days, but it could be all days as this is fairly typical in KTown. There is also street parking nearby.

I love tteokbokki and have tried so many places, but none of them are as good as Yup Dduk. One of my friends even makes it a mission to stop by everytime he visits LA as a testament to how good it is!!

I always get the Yup Dduk which is more rice cakes than fish cakes, but they do offer Yup O if you want more fish cakes than rice cakes. There's a bunch of adds on. I usually add cheese (already comes with it but more cuts the spice), sausages (also comes with a few already), and noodles. The rice balls are pretty simple as it's just rice and seaweed. but really good! This is enough food for ~4 people! Also highly recommend getting extra mild if you're not that good w/ handling spice bc the meal is still enjoyable that way.

Service is always great!! One time I got the mild instead of extra mild and could not handle the heat, so the waiter gave me and my friend free yogurt drinks. I appreciated him so much that day :')!!

The place is very small though, so there could be a wait but usually it's not that bad. Check it out if you love tteobokki!

Oh, Yup Dduk LA, how you set our hearts (and mouths) on fire!  This spot is THE place for anyone craving authentic Korean rice cake and fish cake. The "Yup O" is an absolute must-have, but for those looking to get their hands a little dirty, diving into a DIY rice ball is an experience in itself. A little tip for the uninitiated: even their mild packs a spicy punch, so tread lightly if you're not too keen on the heat!

The real cherry on top? The pricing. Super affordable, and the portions are generous enough to share among friends (or keep for some spicy leftovers). In the bustling world of LA eateries, Yup Dduk stands tall as a beacon of spicy, flavorful excellence. Dive in, share the love, and don't forget the water!

Possibly my favorite Korean restaurant in LA! It is a small shop so there can be a wait. Parking is not bad and service is decent. The food was delicious and were big portions!!
